Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card – Drawbacks

Here are the most important cons you should consider before apply to the Bank of Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card:

  • 95$ Annual Fee

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card has a high $95 annual fee. Many other credit cards do not have annual fees. This fee is easily offset with the annual free hotel stay.

  • Chase Restrictions

Chase Bank has a well-known rule that does not allow customers to sign up for multiple cards and receive multiple sign-up bonuses within a 24-month period. That means some who want to apply for the large sign-up bonus may not be eligible if they have received another Chase card with a sign-up bonus previously.

  • High APR

The APR for the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card is 18.24%-25.24% variable rate, which is high for a card that requires borrowers with excellent credit histories. Cash advance is 27.24%.

  • High Balance Transfer Fee

There is a balance transfer fee required if you want to take advantage of the introductory 0.00% APR rate. The fee is incurred when you transfer debts from one or more credit cards to your Marriott card. This fee is $5 or 5% of the transfer, whichever is greater. This fee is upfront and will be added to your debt load when transferred. This is is also higher than the industry average of 3%

  • 5th Night Free Conditions

The fifth night free program does not apply to regular reservations when you pay for the hotel, it only applies to points that are redeemed. So that means if you’re a big traveler you’re going to be able to get the 5th night free every time you stay at a Marriott.

  • Confusing Rewards

Marriott wants to reward loyal customers but they have a number of different rewards programs that can make it a little confusing for a consumer. They have rewards programs for the total amount of spending, how many nights you stay, and points for spending in different spending categories.

Capital One Venture card is a travel card that offers 50,000 miles on sign-up after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months. This card is more focused on air miles rewards. Capital One Venture also comes with a $95 annual fee, but you do not have to pay it the first year. It also has no introductory APR. If you want to save on flying and rack up the miles, this card is for you.

Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite Mastercard is a travel rewards card that offers 70,000 miles at sign-up after spending $5,000 in the first 90 days. This card offers 2 miles for every dollar spent on all purchases. This card comes with an 89$ annual fee. This card also comes with a 12-month 0.0% introductory APR.

The Discover It Miles credit card is a solid entry-level option for the occasional traveler who is looking to earn rewards towards flights, hotels, and car rentals. The Wells Fargo Propel American Express card offers 3 points for every dollar spent not just on dining and entertainment purchases but also on flights, hotels, car rentals, gas station purchases, and more. Plus, it boasts one of the best sign-up bonuses out there: you can earn 30,000 bonus points (or $300 in cash back) when you spend $3,000 in the first three months. This card competes with some of the premier travel rewards cards.

Is the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card Right for You?

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card is an excellent travel rewards card for those who are regular Marriott customers. Marriott offers a wide variety of different hotels ranging from ultra-luxurious to the everyday hotel.
