Benefits

Let’s take a look at the benefits of the Stash Hotel Rewards card and see if it’s the right one for your wallet or not.

Stash Hotel Rewards Visa card offers 10000 bonus sign-up points after you spend $1500 on your new card within the first 3 months.

Those points are about a $130 value when booking hotel stays through Stash.

All points spent during the year will earn an annual 10% bonus. That means if you redeem 20,000 points during the year, cardholders will earn 2,000 annual bonus points. This can help offset the annual fee.

Become a Stash Rewards member and you can earn more points on top of your Stash Hotel Rewards Visa card. You can earn additional points when reservations are booked through Stash.com and you are a rewards member.

Many hotels can offer higher points throughout the Stash network; for example, 10 points for every dollar spent on a stay at a hotel. This would be on top of the points you will earn when you book with your credit card.

Cardholders earn 3 Stash Points for every dollar in Eligible Purchases you make at Participating Hotels, 2 Stash Points for every dollar in Eligible Purchases of dining, gas and at non-Participating Hotels, 1 Stash Point for every dollar of all other Eligible Purchases.

Non-affiliated hotels can be booked through Stash and you can earn some points outside of the card by booking with Stash. Also, you’ll get 1 points per dollar spent on all other purchases.

Stash Hotel Rewards Visa card does not have any point limits or expiration of points earned.

Stash Hotel Rewards Visa card has no transaction fees while traveling in another country. Many other rewards cards and regular credit cards have fees when you make purchases outside of the United States. The card will not charge an annual fee for the first year of opening the card.

Drawbacks

Here are the most important cons you should consider before apply:

Stash Hotel Rewards Visa card has a large annual fee of $85 ($0 first year). Cardholders will have to spend quite a bit to cover the annual fee.

There are other travel cards in the market that offer higher rewards. There many travel reward cards that offer better rewards on all spending not just specialty spending at Stash

Points earned through the use of the Stash Hotel Rewards Visa card can only be redeemed for hotel stays through a Stash sponsored hotel. This is a very limited use for the rewards.

Many other cards can be used for other types of travel, gift cards, and merchandise. There are other travel cards that allow you to use points for different vendors. When you use the points, they must cover the whole stay.

You cannot, for example, use some points and then pay the card ow with cash. Some hotels have cancellation fees in which some of your points will not be returned to you.

Stash Hotel Rewards Visa card has a large annual fee of $85 ($0 first year). Cardholders will have to spend quite a bit to cover the annual fee.

Stash has 150 hotels in its network. That is very small and may not meet the needs of many travelers. Their footprint is very different from other large companies, such as Marriott that has 7,000 hotels across the world in its network.

Most of the unique or boutique hotels represented by Stash are high-end and more pricey than other, similar offerings.

Stash Hotel Rewards Visa card does not earn points through 3rd party booking companies, such as hotels.com. Make sure to book through Stash.

Credit Card Reviews Methodology

In order to determine the best possible credit cards, we look at things like fees, interest rates and rewards. We do this with companies that are associated with us as partners as well as other offerings. From there, we make a decision about what the best card is related to different categories and needs. We focus on interest rate cost & fees, especially the cost of carrying a balance, rewards – cards accumulate rewards in different currencies—points, miles, cash back—and their values vary widely usability – cards that accept a wide range of credit profiles and offer simple solutions for things like checking your credit score or contacting. We also consider customer reviews.

We look at cards related to good or excellent credit ratings that will then provide a range of different benefits and improvements for someone who has these scores. We also look at low fees when it comes to those who have lower credit scores.
